Anne's Rules
- There are only 5 colors of dragon - gold, bronze, brown, blue, and green.
- There will be no religion, magic, of war on Pern.
- Benden Weyr and Ruatha Hold are off limits. They may be mentioned for the purpose of a history, ut that is it. They will not be played at or mentioned during play.
- No character in the game will be related to any character from the books in any way.
Some of these may change. Refer to the RP rules for any of these changes.
Game Rules
- We play on a fade to black basis. Unless otherwise stated, sexual content and extreme gore are not allowed in the game play. When it is allowed, it will be mentioned and it will be for a contest. This is in the case of gore, not sexual content. Sexual content is not allowed period past light kissing. You may not go into detail about your characters love lives.
- Sexual prefference does not apply to the Impression process during a Hatching. Whether your character is homo/bi/or heterosexual has no bearing. The dragon chooses.
- Females ride gold, males ride bronze. The rest is up to the dragon at Impression.
- There are GOLD, BRONZE, BROWN, BLUE, GREEN, BLACK, and RED dragons at Tokala Weyr. More information on the latter two colors will be posted for your information. Watch here for this add-on.
- Dragons talk like ::THIS:: and their riders talk like >THIS<. It does not have to be in caps, that is just to make it more plain.
Firelizards do not think like people. They do not have the intelligence of even a child. They are more like dogs in their intelligence and their thoughts. They send emotions and simple thoughts like ~THIS~. If you do not read this rule, we will know it and we will let you know about it. This is so that everything is uniform and everyone knows who's talking at what time and what species they happen to be.
- Firelizards will not be approved for the characters. As they must be played and posted reguarly along with the characters, they must be earned. See other posts for ways to get firelizards. This rule goes for all other pets as well. The pets must be acquired during IC play, or in the alternative ways posted about on the other parts of this board.
- If you wish to start a post that will have a major effect on several different characters or a large part of the game, you must PM the plotline to a member of the BoD for approval first. Large plotlines include but are not limited to: firelizard clutches found or laid, the death of a character, a birth, death during Threadfall, goldflights, (to a lesser extent) greenflights.
Large plotlines -- firelizard clutches, when 'found' by a character will be a planned post. The BoD will have control over the colors and distribution of the clutch and the 'finder' will get a suitable fee for the clutch, and their pick of the eggs should they want one. Deaths must be discussed beforehand with the BoD. You must know the impact the death of your character will have on the other characters and the game itself. If you wish your character to be killed because you are bored with them and want a fresh one, that's fine. You just need to let us know. If your character is involved in any major plots relating to him or her, the death of the character will have to be discussed with the other writers. If you still want that character dead, for whatever reason, PM one of the BoD for permission to go on with the post, but most likely it will be during Threadfall. If you wish your character to die during Threadfall, while it is a normal way to die for a dragonrider, it still must be approved by the BoD to happen. Births must be agreed upon by the writers for both the mother and the father of the baby. Both must agree to the birth of the child. If both do not agree on the birth, but the pregnancy will have an impact on the posting and the general plot surrounding the characters, miscarriage and/or abortion is an option. Goldflights will be approved by the BoD and announced ahead of time. Even if you write for a goldrider but are not part of the BoD, you must get the flight approved before posting it. Greenflights, while not as effectual as goldflights, must also be approved by the BoD. They do not have to be announced ahead of time, but you may wish to for the post to gain attention.
Watch here for any other rules that may be added on. They will be in a different color for a short period of time for ease.

Pet Rules
We know this is posted in part in the RP Rules above, but it bears repeating and elaborating.
Firelizards
- Candidates will not be allowed Firelizards. This is due to the work load they will have as candidates. They will not have the time nor the energy to care for and train a firelizard.
- For these same reasons, Weyrlings will not be allowed firelizards. Once they are considered Senior Weyrlings, or graduate to a full Wing, then they may have a firelizard.
- You must play out the acquisition of a firelizard. Your character cannot just suddenly have one. The finding of a clutch (once approved by the BoD) and the subsequent hatching of the pet must be played out IC.
- Gold and green firelizard flights do not need to be posted. Unless you can make it entertaining, it really doesn't need to be posted. The emotions of a dragon flight (for the riders) do not apply to a firelizard flight for the owners.
- Firelizards DO NOT think in complete thoughts. They project more strong feelings and short, INCOMPLETE thoughts than anything. Your firelizard will NOT be posted as "He flew around, looking at the water and watching the fish swim beneath the waves." These ARE NOT people. They can be posted more as "Ooooh... shiny shiny, fish!"
No, they are not retarded, but they are more like dogs than children.
- Firelizard clutches, either found by a character or laid by an owned firelizard, are controlled by the BoD. This means you cannot just give your friend the best eggs in the bunch. The colors of the eggs and distribution is entirely controlled by the BoD. However, you will be given sufficient Marks for "your" clutch. As an added bonus, you may keep one egg from the clutch, but a metallic hatchling will have to be appoved by the BoD.
Whers **will be edited**
Canines and Felines As canines and felines are more common on the Southern Continent, it will be possible for your character to have one as a pet. However, there are some rules to this.
- Dragonriders will not be allowed to have either a feline or a canine as a pet. This is due to the fact that the animal would most likely not be comfortable in the small weyr the dragonrider lives in with no way to get out except to fall from the ledge.
- For the same reasons, Weyrlings will not be allowed canines or felines as pets. They have a hatchling dragon to care for, and would not plausibly be able to care for both animals. The dragon would obviously take precedence over the other animal, and the other would be neglected.
- Candidates may be able to have a canine or feline as a pet. However, you must have stated a willingness to not have said Candidate Impress. Even then, if the character is a Candidate, you must fully play out any disappointments on the Sands during a Hatching.
- Other characters are going to be on a BoD approved basis for the animals. They will by no means be a common pet. The rank of your character will have no bearing on whether they get the pet or not. In fact, the rank of a character may have a detrimental effect on your hopes that they have a canine or feline as a pet. For the same reasons a dragonrider cannot have one as a pet, a Holder may not have one, but it's not impossible. These will be decided on a case by case basis.
If you wish to have a feline or canine as a pet for a character, PM one of the BoD about the idea. We will get back to you one way or the other, and a refusal is likely to have a reason with it. The same as with the firelizards, you must be able to prove yourself as an active member first.
