CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Briese
Age:18
Gender: female
Physical description: When describing Briese, some words you might use are "youthful," and "cute," sometimes "pretty," but usually not "beautiful." For her entire life Bri has been mistaken for being younger than she actually is, due to a blemish-free, freckly baby face. Besides that, she has a somewhat boyish figure, with a flat bust and straight hips, and being relatively tall (5'7) only adds to this. Now that she is out of the more awkward years of puberty, she has a more athletic build than before, but that doesn't mean she'll ever be able to escape being called a "bean pole." She has light sea-green eyes, one of her best features, and her hair is a light sandy brown color. Her hair is as straight as the rest of her, but she makes it look good with a short layered cut. She has lots of freckles on her face and some on her shoulders and back too. Bri is one of those girls who never tans and sunburns easily, so she is often seen wearing a large sun hat if she's working outside. Perhaps to help make herself look older, Briese rarely wears large prints or overly bright colors, instead choosing pieces in darker sophisticated colors with small embroidered designs here and there.
Personality: Briese is generally a happy, upbeat person. She is a firm believer in "glass half-full" ideology and tries not to get too down about little things. She enjoys helping others work out their problems. Sometimes, she has some rather unrealistic solutions, but other times she can give good advice. At very first meeting, she can seem a little shy, but it doesn't take her long to open up. She has few trust issues and can sometimes be a bit too open, telling things to people she barely knows. She is a firm believer in the idea that talking about problems will help solve them, which can get on people's nerves sometimes, but she means well.
Briese has an almost insatiable curiousity. She always wants to learn new things and meet new people. She enjoys making new friends, although she's always loyal to the old. Her only problem in meeting new people is that she sometimes gets a bit nervous around young men her age. She usually manages to get over it, though, and can be a bit of a flirt once she does.
Briese is a creative person and she loves her Craft. In addition to fixing up and refitting people's clothes, she is skilled with decorative embroidery. She also enjoys drawing, but she is not as good at that as she is at being a Weaver.
A random fact about her is that she is terrified of spinners (spiders), a bit weird since she is a Weaver.
History: Briese has a perfectly normal background. She was born in Southern Hold, the third child of a Harper, Barlen, and his wife Sira. Her two older siblings and a younger one were all brothers. She was doted on for being the only girl, but managed to avoid being spoiled because of the kitchen and washing chores she had to do, as well as putting up with her brother's teasing. She always knew that she didn't want a normal life with marriage and children, and she liked working with clothing, so she decided to become a Weaver apprentice.
She enjoyed being an apprentice and after a few turns doing general work, she specialized in tailoring. She got lots of practice with the lower caverns folk in the Hall, and was soon quite talented at it. She also made lots of friends, and even had a few young men who she was interested in.
She earned her journeywoman marks at the age of eighteen. Just days later, her life changed. A dragonrider arrived at the Hall and grabbed the nearest person who looked to be the right age, which was Briese. He carried her off and brought her to the Weyr, where she was informed that she was a candidate. She is still shocked and confused, and doesn't know what to think about this new turn of events.
